The Arab Center for the Rule of Law and Integrity (ACRLI) organized, with the support of the Foundation for the Future, a regional forum on "The Role of Civil Society In Promoting the Rule of Law in the Arab Region", on 2-3 December 2008, in Grand Hyatt Hotel in Amman (Jordan).
The Forum came in the context of ACRLI's efforts to contribute to the formulation of a key and genuine role for civil society in democratic reform, comprehensive development, knowledge and capacity development, and awareness-raising in relation to the rule of law in Arab societies.
Governmental representatives as well as representatives from civil society organizations, scholars, experts and academics from Arab countries and others, participated in the Forum, in addition to institutions concerned with reform, development and good governance.
This Forum was divided into 6 sessions that will discuss concepts and applications of the Rule of Law and the related role of civil society and resulted in a concrete action plan that could be implemented in the following years.
