| Fourth Town Hall Meeting on New Voting Techniques Held in Douma (August 29, 2026) | | As part of the “Inclusive Democratic Participation: Enhancing Education, Engagement and Oversight in Lebanon” project, funded by the European Union, ACRLI organized its fourth Town Hall Meeting in collaboration with Douma Municipality and the Tanourine Development Gathering Association. The meeting was held at Douma Hotel and focused on New Voting Techniques, their relevance, and their potential applicability to the Lebanese context.
The meeting brought together participants for an open and constructive discussion on modern voting technologies and techniques, their potential application in Lebanon, and their role in developing the electoral process and strengthening citizens’ confidence in elections.
The Town Hall provided an opportunity for participants to exchange views, raise questions, and share their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges associated with introducing modern voting techniques in Lebanon. Particular attention was given to their potential contribution to enhancing public awareness, promoting civic participation, and encouraging citizens—particularly young people—to engage more actively in public affairs and democratic processes.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of ensuring that any modernization of the electoral process takes into consideration the Lebanese context and contributes to a more inclusive, accessible, transparent, and effective electoral system.
This fourth Town Hall Meeting forms part of a series of consultations organized under the project to create spaces for dialogue with citizens and stakeholders and to gather their perspectives on the future of the electoral process in Lebanon.
